Robbert-Jan van Oeveren is a 24 years old Industrial Design Engineering student at the Delft University of Technology. After the AfricAlive expedition he only has to complete his graduation project to finish his study. Besides his study he organised similar big events as AfricAlive, among others the organisation of the Netherlands’ biggest Business fair for engineering students, Techniek Bedrijven. During his study he was partner of “Adviesbureau Kojac”, a small Consulting company, where he also organised and supervised several big projects.
During the expedition, Robbert-Jan will fulfil the function of mechanic. As a little boy he already had a passion for technology and in particular for automobiles. Not so strange if you think that he grew up in his fathers car workshop and between his classic car collection. Besides cars, Robbert-Jan has always liked to repair mopeds. His knowledge accumulated over the years will come in handy during the expedition.
“During foregoing journeys I have already travelled about 10.000 kilometres
through Southern Africa by car, and another 8.000 kilometres through Central
America, but this expedition will surpass all my previous experiences, although
I think that I can use a lot of previous developed knowledge during this Expedition.”
