Bogdan Dumitrescu is a 25 year
old student Aerospace engineering at the Delft University of Technology. He takes
part on the AfricAlive expedition as one of the three motor cyclists. Bogdan initiated
AfricAlive and has the honour of leading the project. One of his dreams has always
been to start a project to help people in parts of the world that suffer from
poverty, like most regions in Africa. After hearing the theme of the 33rd lustrum
of the Delft university of technology, which were Sustainability and Africa, Bogdan
combined his desire to travel with his dream of a humanitarian project and set
up AfricAlive; an expedition with the goal to promote sustainable technology on
a continent that possesses far more potention than everyone thinks; Africa. With
a lot of perseverance he brought together all kinds of organizations to make the
expedition to a huge success.
Bogdan has a lot of experience with travelling in difficult areas. He travelled before to Africa, where he visited Kenya, Tanzania, Burundi, Rwanda and Democratic Republic of Congo. A trip on which he realised that western life as we know it isn’t available for everyone and a lot of people on this world live in very difficult conditions. We however are in a position to contribute in a positive way to the problems that face our world, a cause that Bogdan tries to work hard for through this project.
“AfricAlive is at the moment my greatest challenge. We will with great
enthusiasm and dedication try to organize this expedition as professional as
possible, in which we will fulfil our goal to promote sustainable technology
and help to make people feel responsible about sustainability.
